I stopped watching award shows in 10th grade, which was back in 2003. I've realized that every year, the shows get worse and worse. I noticed the ever going trend of the media portraying an aesthetic view of a show, over a quality show. These performers are not even performing anymore at all. They go on stage, sing a couple of their own song lines, and that's it. Most of the time, the song is just played in the background. I just get dissapointed every year from award shows, that I just gave up on it.

All in all though, I totally agree with you. Music award shows are just for people to show off their pretty clothes. The Oscars and Emmys are still pretty good award shows though.
