ok so i got the Red Light on my ELITE this morning an di was talking with some of my bro's friends at school and they say that i can take it to Best Buy's GEEK SQUAD to fix it but it will cost some money...Even though i bought it at COSTCO online...oh yea and i already tried all the RECOMMENDATIONS on the XBOX site to fix it but they didnt work...
so can anyone help me? and if i send it in to microsoft, there really is no point in sending it if its just a little minor problem... |

You don't need any paper work, look on the back of the system for your serial number if its faded away look in the front flap where the controls plug in.
Write down your serial number. Call 1-800-4myxbox They'll ask you for your name, number, address, e-mail address, etc. Then your serial number, if you have never registered your system them your in the clear. Now if you have called or gone online and registered your system then you need to tell them all the info that you have down for the system. Typically if you said I can't remember what name it was under and give them your serial number they'll give you a hint on who it is. Or you can just say I bought it from someone and I wanted to change the name on the warranty. Anyway, you'll have to find your own box to mail this in, and they'll mail you the shipping label in to your e-mail that you give them, print it out, tape it to the box, DO NOT write xbox or 360 anywhere on the outside of the box, write down the reference number on a sheet of paper and put it in the box with your system. As long as you use the shipping label they sent you then you shouldn't have to pay anything for shipping but you will have to take the box to a UPS store and give it to them. Unless they will come to your house and pick it up. (ours doesn't do it here but I know they do in some states) If your warranty ended, which is shouldn't have because I bought my 360 the night it came out and my extended warranty still doesn't end until Dec 09. But if you do go to GeekSqaud and they say its going to be $200, go buy a new one! F.Y.E. Has the 360s for $149 after mail in rebate. You pay $249, which you will get a brand new pro system but it has a 20gig hard drive in it instead of the new 60gig hard drives. But if you do the mail in rebate its completely worth it. |
