I didn't know where to post this but this seemed to be just as good a place as any so yeah. My friends Ipod says do not disconnect and has the blinking thing on top and the computer doesn't notice it is connected. I've tried disk mode and it still doesn't work. My computer once noticed "new hardware" when I connected the ipod and told me to restart but nothing changed. Can someone help?

No this is the problem. I have an ipod myself and it works fine. I know how to update music etc.. on it. My friends however stopped working for her so I'm trying to find out why. The computer notices when it is connected (it beeps) and sometimes when I type in the drive letter of the ipod I can see folders other times it is inaccessible and when I try using the software updater I can't click update becuase it cannot mount the ipod.
