My school colors are blue, black, and white and I wanted to dye my hair for graduation.
I have dark brown hair and I was thinking of blue streaks or something like this How long will this color stay? I've never done anything to my hair before, so I was going to get it professionally done, but I wasn't sure whether it's worth dying or just getting extensions. Help? |

If you decide to go to a salon make sure to call the place before you get it done, or when you are setting your appointment let them know you want blue. A lot of Salons don't stock hair color like that. I've never had my hair professionally dyed, though. It's REALLY REALLY easy to do it yourself.
The bottles say it lasts 6-8 weeks but it will tint your hair for a long time. You are going to have to bleach it first so it will be light enough for the color to really stand out like that. Touch ups, using special shampoos and conditioners, and cool water when rinsing your hair keeps it in longer. But, blue was always a good color for me. Most fade to a green color, but I found one that faded to a really pretty light blue. I can't remember what brand it was, though. Regardless, if you aren't committed to keeping the hair color I would suggest investing in some of the spray in colors they sell at Walgreens or something. |

Not that going to a salon is a whole lot better, but store bought colors are really bad for your hair. If you want to keep healthy hair, I wouldn't suggest store bought colors/bleach/dyes/etc. |
