i'm a musician and would like to start recording some music but i want a good quality mic to do so, though one that isn't big and intruding. are there any you'd reccommend?

as well, how would recording video and audio at the same time work? my digital camera records videos with audio, but if i'm using the mic then won't they interfere? just not sure how'd that work... filming and using a mic at the same time.

Get a Sure microphone. They make excellent (and they should be, they're expensive as f**k) microphones. I wouldn't suggest recording video and audio at the same time. I usually record them separately and then sync them together. Camera microphones tend to pick up too much reverb.
