SO.. I like this guy and I don't know whether I should just tell him or not. If he doesn't like me back, I don't want to ruin our friendship.

If he's the type of person that doesn't react well to you being open emotionally with him about liking him, then maybe you should try to drop the hint in a less obvious way. Like, as him to hang out one on one...
