Okay, well things cultural that are NOT dangerous/overly demeaning are not "wrong"-- like the one I mentioned. Exactly. So how can we judge her for selling her body? You call her a whore but she deems it necessary to continue her education.But I mean, you can't deny that although those kinds of practices you mentioned are now considered immoral and unnecesarry, when and after they were created, they were widely followed and supported. So it's wrong in our eyes/society but not "wrong" in their culture-- there are still those who practice it or feel it's necesarry to their culture; even if it is a dangerous and cruel procedure. (of course there are people within the culture who are trying to end it, and I think this is the right thing to do). QUOTE But this is not like any of those things. Yes, it's her right and all, but I just find it a rather tasteless tactic to get media attention for a "noble" cause. I think it's a noble cause. I mean, it really says something politically, doesn't it? Because of the state of our economy and the way the education system is set up in this country, people literally sell their bodies in order to get ahead.
