Okay, well things cultural that are NOT dangerous/overly demeaning are not "wrong"-- like the one I mentioned. But I mean, you can't deny that although those kinds of practices you mentioned are now considered immoral and unnecesarry, when and after they were created, they were widely followed and supported. So it's wrong in our eyes/society but not "wrong" in their culture-- there are still those who practice it or feel it's necesarry to their culture; even if it is a dangerous and cruel procedure. (of course there are people within the culture who are trying to end it, and I think this is the right thing to do). But this is not like any of those things. Yes, it's her right and all, but I just find it a rather tasteless tactic to get media attention for a "noble" cause. |
