I just want an outside opinion of what people back home think is going on in Iraq and Afghanistan. Talking to a friend via satellite phone made me realize that a lot of people, all around the world, are completely clueless as to the politics, the hostility, and the way of life for military and DoD personnel. I don't have all the answers, not by a long shot. I'm sure he can throw in his two cents as well, but I've learned a whole lot in the job I have now.

The Generals and public affairs officers handle that. Although, I was in Kuwait at Ali Al Salem, right by where the oil fields were burned. There's a lot of boredom here. When you go outside the wire, you strap up, but the worse you have to worry about on base is mortars. We narrowly avoided a couple yesterday morning on my way to chow. |
