A Jr. High School is making headlines about giving birth control to it's students (article is here)What is your stance on providing Jr. High students with condoms and birth control? Should it only be the parents responsibility?

Today the pharmacy attempted to charge me $53 for my pills. That's with insurance. What kind of shitty insurance plan won't cover birth control, for f**k's sake? Do we want people to have unwanted children? I think not.
Anyway...teaching people does not lead people to have sex. Just because someone acquires a condom does not mean that they're going to run out and find someone to use it with. And if someone already has a partner, not teaching them how to avoid pregnancy is certainly not going to prevent them from having sex. I was talking to my roommates the other day, who went to a small rural school, and they said that they were never taught about safe sex at all, and that it took them a really long time to find out about the pill. Definitely not a good education method. (Admittedly, I only posted in here because I was bitter about the $53) |
