Here's a problem with arranged marriages Options

I was talking about this in cBC, but decided to turn it into a topic.

Alright, so I got this friend who found out that she's caught up in an arranged marriage. The guy's decent and all, she had no real problems with him.

However... Knowing that he she was gonna end up with this guy no matter what, she just let herself go and starting eating everything and anything she wanted, and started being lazy and unkempt.

LOL, sucks for the guy.

Anyway, if you knew you were gonna be stuck with one guy/girl, and held down to it, how would you have reacted?

It's not "silly." It's really practical when you think about it. It's also deeply cultural, and it should be respected as such.

A trusted family member, that feels the same way and wouldn't tell. I'm definitely not one for tradition, and sure, if it's what people want to do all actions should be respected different or not. I still think it's silly (in modern america).

but to add to what I said
It would make sense to have an arranged marriage in some cases: status, money, etc. In those cases though, it's highly unlikely to maintain fidelity though. The only sexual experiences those two will have together will most likely be forced, or for children. Marriages are nothing but a mere illusion for governmental purposes. Anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant.
