Alright. So im really thinking about getting one of the two.
I have seen mixed reviews, prices, and photos of such.
Though im still kind of iffy about it.

I really want it because next summer my family is planning to go to japan as my Senior graduation trip
(although it would be the summer before senior year)
And i would LOVE to have either camera to snap some shots on
not to mention i would love to snap pictures otherwise and such.

Though i dont know which is the best of the two.
Like i said ive seen mixed reviews of both

I would love opinions! Also if anyone has any i would love to see some of the photo comparisons that they both take.

Also where i can find cheaper-ish prices of such.

Anyways i would love your opinions!

Ha ha, the Nikon D80 is definitely better. The Nikon D80 is at least a whole 'nother level above the D40. You should be comparing the D40 with other entry level cameras from other competing manufacturers.

Which camera to buy depends on how serious you think you're gonna get with photography. Or how much money you have. I mean, unless you really got the extra cash to be using the Nikon D80 as a snapshot camera (which I think goes a little less than double the price of the D40), you should just stick with the D40, or another entry level DSLR like the Canon Rebel XT, or somethin'.

Kryo is gonna tell you not to get the D40, maybe if he comes around, you'll find out why. There are actually people on here with a D40 too, though, so you keep asking around.

I'm on a low budget, but I saved up for a D80 and it performs, no doubt.

Yeah i would want to save up for sure.
I have seen D40 pictures and i liked it but in a way it seems like i can take photos like that on my regular digital camera except for having the good quality on my dig. and i have seen pictures with the D80 and i loved them.
I would love to get serious with Photography
(im into photography and graphic designing and i would love to combine both)
Though my mom always gets angry when i look into cameras, its always like im looking at porn or something.

Im curious to also hear Kryo's opinion on the D40

Also how much does the D80 cost usually?
