My best guy friend Matt and his girlfriend Allie have been dating for almost a year now.
They've become best friends and as a result I've become Allie's girl to go to for advice. The three of us know almost everything about eachother (if I say it to matt, allie knows it, if allie says it to me, matt knows it- we all pass it on).

Well, Allie just broke up with Matt because she didn't love him anymore and college was coming, but Matt was head over heels for her.
I found out about the break-up when Allie called me worried about there friendship. All I could think was how was Matt?
He was a wreck. I called him and he bawled away and he told me regretfully how he could never be friends with Allie again because it would hurt too much (and he wasn't being overly dramatic, I know him).

Well, Allie called me later wanting to know how he was feeling and when I told her about him not being able to be friends with her she started bawling- and she was completely emotionless before that.

I hate being in the middle like this.
Should I have told Allie how Matt was really feeling?
I didn't want to hurt her, but she wanted to know.
I don't know if I should side with someone or try to remain in the middle, helping them both. Help?

So then why did Allie say she didn't love Matt but then after you told her that Matt didn't want to be friends with her no more she started crying. I mean obviously she must really care about him even though she says otherwise.

I think you did the right thing though, because the dishonesty could have come back to haunt you as well.

Maybe you should all three meet up and you can mediate the whole thing and bring it to a conclusion.
