I think you guys seriously need to revert back to the old rule, where "spam" topics are never deleted. I don't even care if it's mass spam, maybe there's a legit topic you might have accidentally deleted in the whole mess. I even remember back when I was a mod, forums like The Lounge once being gloriously painted in red because of the remains of closed mass spam topics, because we had to close each one.

Mass spam ought to be deleted, it's irritating, inconvenient, and aesthetically displeasing.
I don't personally delete individual topics, but to be honest I don't think it makes much of a difference, given that it can be retreived if need be. Saying that deleting is 'abuse' is slightly hysterical, in my opinion. But I wouldn't mind seeing Dani's guideline followed if there are fewer than 5 or 6 topics or so. |
