I really hate how my image in photoshop turn out bad just because when i cut out the person the edges are bad, look at the example below.

Is there a way that I can make the cut more professional?
I use the poloygonic lasso tool, is that the right one to use?
Also I use adobe photoshop cs3 extended.

Thanks in advance, i love everyone XD!
:)

Okay, so, I did this tutorial on clipping masks.

http://www.createblog.com/tutorials/tutorial.php?id=335

I wrote the tutorial because you can use that concept for practically everything. For something like what you're doing (extracting a person from an image) you can use the pen tool to create the most detailed intricate shapes and fill them in, with any color, on a separate layer ABOVE the picture. I make things incredibly hard and I use the pen tool for everything, only because it is the tool that I feel most comfortable with. (to each is own, eh? Heh.)

Okay, so I know I have completely talked myself in a circle, so, i'll try and use some pics to help explain.

So, I used the pen tool to create the blue areas around her hair. (For the strand effect, I created my path >> Stroke Path >> brush (Make sure Stimulate Pressure is checked) and 'ok'.

Now, once you have covered the whole person covered, you can drag the photo of the person on top of all the shapes, hit ctrl+G on your keyboard, it'll only have the person shown.

I really need to go to bed right now, I have to go to work early tomorrow morning but if you have more ?'s, which i'm sure you will, just post 'em here and I will gladly answer them tomorrow when I get home. I'm sorry for the lame explaining, but, I promise I will show you how to do this less "rigged".
