i have been having some problems at school. with the dress code and stuff.
the other day i was wearing a black shirt with julius the monkey breaking a guitar on it to school, and i got called to the principles office, and was told that it was a VERY innapropriate shirt becasue it will be giving people ideas of vandalism and its black. and i asked her (the principal) "its black, so?" and she said if you wear a black shirt, you are gothic. she labeld me. wt f? oh and i got an hour worth of detention, just for wearing a black shirt. and another time i was wearing a wristband that had the blink182 smiley on it. and the principal said it promotes "ganster" stuff. ha ha. she says that i must belong to some gang. i said, no. but she insisted that i did belong to some kind of gang. i was also wearing shorts that says dance on the butt for p.e., and i got detention for that because it was "innapropriate" i asked the principal why and she said that shorts saying dance on the butt are promoting sex. i wonder, how do those promote sex?!?!?! now we have a new dress code rule (well its not official but its an idea thats up in the air) that we can not wear all black clothes because you will be "gothic", we cant wear wristbands or head bands because they are "gangster-like", we cant wear skirts because they make a girl look "cheap".... and so on. what do you guys think of that? i mean, just because i wear certain stuff it doesnt mean i belong to a certain group or belive in something.. am i correct? i think some teachers are just sooooo wiered. and i think i have the right to wear what i want to wear... and not be labeled..... right? i need some opinions... |

Lawl, my middle school only cared if your outfit was causing a distraction in class. I don't think my HS has a dress code... Hell, no one even cares if we don't wear shoes, and your tee-shirt can say anything you like/have any picture you want (guns, drugs, alcohol, you name it) as long as you're not threatening a student or teacher with it. Although they tried to ban bandannas once, the administration thought they were too gang related. That rule went out the window when the entire school showed up in bandannas. The students at my school are surprisingly good at organizing things like that.
If I were you, I'd switch schools, but that's just because it's the least confrontational. Getting the student body to protest usually works best though. One important thing to understand about schools is that they don't dare get everybody in trouble if it's a protest. |
