So, im thinking about getting dreads but im still not sure about it.
One, i know everyone in my family would freak. Two, I dont want to cut my hair real short afterwards. most likely id be getting extensions but if you think about it its kinda a waste cause if i just grab a chunk of my hair and rub it between my hands i'd pretty much have the start of a dread. my hairs really curly and thick and like, 2 minutes after im done brushing it it has knots in it again. also, if i get extensions it kinda defeats the purpose of my wanting to get dreads. i want dreads because im so tired of having such a hard time with my hair. other than the poll, does anyone have any advice about a type of hairstyle that would work with majorly curly hair since im still not sure if ima get the dreads yet? fyi, ive tried so many different hair straighteners and products its not even funny. and it takes about 2 hours to straighten my hair which is time i do not have during the school year. oh! one more thing. theyd be in a ponytail or something and probably dyed several different colors. i hate having my hair on my neck and i like colors. Are you talking about dread locks? I think those are ew.
![]() But anyways, have you considered chemically straightening your hair? The only downside is that when you do it, your natural hair grows out at the roots so it might look bad once your hair grows out again. But some people have said that the straightening lasts for a year. Of course it'll probably cost $200+ to do it, if you want it done professionally. As for hairstyles.. Eh not really, sorry. ;x |

Where do you get your hair cut, if not at a salon? Anyways, one of my friend's dorm mate cut my hair and it was pretty good for a guy who has only cut his own hair and his girlfriend's hair. Fortunately I have straight hair (with a slight wave at the end). Honestly I think you should save up money to go to a decent salon so that you can ask them what kind of hairstyles would work with your face and how to fix your hair up. ![]() As for hair straightening -- prices depend on the chemicals they use on you, plus it takes time to do. My boyfriend's sister offered to do the straightening on my hair if I pay for the chemical, which costs about $100 (at least that's what she told me). Plus she says that depending on the hair, it could last at least a year. It lasted at least a year on my sister in law. For dreads... doesn't that mean you wouldn't be able to wash your hair? ![]() |
