What you might want to consider is getting a lab job. Some may require that you complete specific courses, but I know some of my friends who have gotten lab jobs over the summer or during the beginning of their sophomore year. Also it will boost up your resume so that you are more likely to get those internships next time around (when you are a junior or a senior).
