... had one of those moments where you're across the room from someone and the person next to the person you're trying to communicate with thinks you're talking to them instead of the person you're actually trying to talk to. That's happen to me plenty of times.
![]() I'm pretty sure there isn't already a topic like this. And if there is, I missed it. |

Yeah, that's very annoying. I always make sure to be clear about who I'm addressing, now. Yesterday in the school library, it was pretty packed, but I didn't have any problems turning to my friend sitting next to me and saying, "SO JIMMY. I HEARD YOU HAD DIARRHEA OVER THE WEEKEND?"
He turned beet red and meekly said, "Uh, I had an upset stomach, yes." "YEAH, CRIPPLING DIARRHEA. HEARD YOU HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. IT WAS A COMPLETE DIARRHEA STORM." Despite the fact that everybody in the library was hearing the conversation, nobody was confused about whether I was talking to them or not, so it's really just a matter of ascertaining the recipient. It could have been bad because the girl that he liked was sitting next to him, and it would have been embarrassing for him if she had thought I was talking to her. |
