So.

I was discussing this with my friend earlier, and we did not know the answer.

Say a guy has a sex change, and then comes over all religious, and wants to join some kind of cloister. Does he/she have to become a monk, or a nun?

Also, would you ever consider joining up at an abbey? Obviously a question mainly for people with beliefs.

I don't think sex changes are recognized in the Catholic Church. I don't even think they're scientifically recognized, you can't change your chromosomes from XX to XY or vice versa. So my best guess is that if it was a male, go find an abbot and see what they have to say about it. If there was any surgery, I'm not sure if it has to be reversed or not.

Dunno what the Church of England has to say about it.
