So.

I was discussing this with my friend earlier, and we did not know the answer.

Say a guy has a sex change, and then comes over all religious, and wants to join some kind of cloister. Does he/she have to become a monk, or a nun?

Also, would you ever consider joining up at an abbey? Obviously a question mainly for people with beliefs.

You don't have to join anything. You can always live celibate as a consecrated single.

I've discerned, decided matrimony is the way to go for me, but never hurts to think more about it.
