is my professor stupid? i'm taking a communications class intro to public speaking, and we have to do like 5 minute speeches almost everyday. so last week, i did my speech, and i got a 24/25 on my speech. the one point i lost was because he said i was too confident and cocky. wtf? he said i should be more humble. i mean is it my fault i'm not shy and humble like most of the students in the class. most of the students in my class are like shy and awkward when they do their speeches. f**ken bullshit man. i thought public speaking was about having confidence in speaking in front of a large group of people. this 1 point better not cost me an A- to a B+.

a good speaker does not come across like a cocky a-hole. i would've taken off more than a point.

a good speaker does not come across like a cocky a-hole. i would've taken off more than a point. some of the people who got a 25/25 were way worser than me. they freaking read off their note cards, and barely had eye contact. also said umm, yeah, like, all the damn time. but because they were shy and shit, professor felt sorry and gave them a 25 for effort >_> Don't be...overbearing, I suppose. A 24/25 is still good. D: Good isn't good enough. I strive for perfection. |

I strive for perfection. HAHAHHAHAHAHA HAHAHHAHAH AHAHHAHAHA AHHAHAHAH AAHAHAHAHHAHAH ![]() Anyways, AUGH this reminds me of Spanish 3/4 in high school. My teacher gave me a B- on my oral presentation and said I was lucky that I even got a B-, even though other students were reading off note cards, didn't pronounce correctly, etc. and got B+'s. I was so pissed but there was nothing I could do, even though I pronounced correctly and even got my Mexican friend to correct my dialogue before I presented. WTF. I didn't want to argue because I think that my professor would've deducted more points. SHIT, it left me with a B+ during my freshman year. >=[ just cuz some foreign exchange student did okay doesn't mean he should get a 25 In defense of the exchange students, keep in mind that they are TRYING to do well. It's difficult for them. For example, if you went to study abroad to Japan and all the Japanese students attending that college are obviously speaking fluently. You at at a disadvantage, correct? HOWEVER, most likely the professor with KNOW that of it and will give you a decent grade for effort, as long as you show improvement with as much effort as you can to put it in.
