is my professor stupid? i'm taking a communications class intro to public speaking, and we have to do like 5 minute speeches almost everyday. so last week, i did my speech, and i got a 24/25 on my speech. the one point i lost was because he said i was too confident and cocky. wtf? he said i should be more humble. i mean is it my fault i'm not shy and humble like most of the students in the class. most of the students in my class are like shy and awkward when they do their speeches. f**ken bullshit man. i thought public speaking was about having confidence in speaking in front of a large group of people. this 1 point better not cost me an A- to a B+.

^if that's the case you could argue that they do not deserve perfect scores either. if anything, a 24/25 just for effort is more than enough.

^if that's the case you could argue that they do not deserve perfect scores either. if anything, a 24/25 just for effort is more than enough. Inorite?! It's like the professor has a grade scale for each person individually. it's not fair, and i would like to see a more consisentent grading system. just cuz some foreign exchange student did okay doesn't mean he should get a 25, while i did great and got a 24, and lost one point b/c of something he is nitpicking on. why didn't he nitpick on the shy kids, who stood up there mumbling like hell, and basically reading off his note cards. but because the teacher knew the kid was shy, he applaud his effort and gave him 25 public speaking is not entirely about having confidence. it's images, gestures, attitudes, looks, and every aspect of your movements. It's about you and how you carry yourself, not about others. What image did you intend to portray? if you just say the lines out, it doesnt cut it. Although you're upset about your professor, take that into a consideration to convince him in your next speech. Teacher's perspectives are different. Some suck ass, but it doesn't mean we cant learn from them. what can you really do? It's good that you stand out in front of those losers. Presenting your speech is an art. Make it pleasing for your professor. ![]() Winner makes the grades. Good luck. you're annoying. your mancrush for me is overbearing. I think you have the right to be angry. Is your class bell-curved? forreals joanne. you feel me. the class isn't curved at all. Haha, you sound like my mom, Tung. ![]() and you look kinda like angelina jolie. ![]() Damn, I've never lost any points on speeches for being TOO outgoing. I guess you just have to find that middle ground. Or bitchslap your professor with your paper and demand the point back. Who's overbearing now... haha real talk dee! i need to choke a bitch. Off-topic, one of my friends was there, and he was pissed because his group chose that show instead of another one that was both good and on time. ._. Tung, is it possible that he thought you weren't taking it seriously? He could have a misconception about your personality and maybe all it will take is for you to prove him wrong. I'd see it as a challenge and just try to do better next time. One thing I've learned is never to get upset about other people's grades - worry about your own. If someone does better than you on something, maybe you should try to feel happy for them rather than thinking it might have been graded unfairly simply because someone got a better grade than you did. no my professor knows i'm one of the few students who aren't shy, and have great speaking skills, but since it's an intro class most of the students in there are n00bs and shy. so he awards those n00bies for trying and effort, while he expects MORE out of the ones who are already good (that's me). so that's why i'm piss that the grading is unfair, and i want it more consistent. You sure that point wasn't for grammar? ![]() lol haha, no. it's not an english class ![]() |
