is my professor stupid? i'm taking a communications class intro to public speaking, and we have to do like 5 minute speeches almost everyday. so last week, i did my speech, and i got a 24/25 on my speech. the one point i lost was because he said i was too confident and cocky. wtf? he said i should be more humble. i mean is it my fault i'm not shy and humble like most of the students in the class. most of the students in my class are like shy and awkward when they do their speeches. f**ken bullshit man. i thought public speaking was about having confidence in speaking in front of a large group of people. this 1 point better not cost me an A- to a B+.

some of the people who got a 25/25 were way worser than me. they freaking read off their note cards, and barely had eye contact. also said umm, yeah, like, all the damn time. but because they were shy and shit, professor felt sorry and gave them a 25 for effort >_>

Well, from what you've said, it sounds unfair that you got a point of for "cockiness."
I guess there's a fine line between confidence and arrogance.
It is important to be confident, but you have to carry your speech with coherence and eloquence. I guess the audience would be more pleased by the speech if you weren't too overbearing.
