Who has stayed in one? What are they like? Any recommendations for finding a hostel in SD?

The foreign exchange student from Korea that stayed at my house would go to youth hostels. From what he told me, they are very cheap ($20 a night). Little privacy, don't pack too many valuable things, some of the people that stay there are really weird, you really should only be there to get some sleep, then GTFO and do what you planned on doing that day.

Very good point. If you take an iPod or whatever, take it out with you in your pocket during the day, and try not to leave anything you care TOO much about behind... Less of an issue if you have your own room, obv. |
