Tomorrow, Tuesday (well I guess later on today), we are putting down my dog Casey. He has lived a very long life, about 14 years, but it is still really hard. He has lost control of his bowel movements (ie, he shits in the house sometimes) and has difficulty standing up and sitting down, his back legs are giving out. My parents are leaving for Mexico next week and then my sister and I are both going out town so they didn't want a)for him to get worse and us to have to deal with this by ourselves and b)to have to pay for someone to take care of him and then have him get worse/die without us there. I am just so upset and don't think it's his time to go :(

Has anyone had to put their beloved pet, dog or not, down?

It hasn't happened to me, but my boyfriend's chowchow, CeCe (male) was put to sleep after about 15-16 years. sad.gif He was in a lot of pain and couldn't walk. I think he had some wound or something on him, and his back had a lot of oozing puss coming out of it. My bf had that dog since his family moved into their current house, which is since he was 2 years old, and it died sometime when we were in our senior of high school.

CeCe lived a good life though. Living off of dog food and a big pan of fried rice every day. YEA, FRIED RICE! I miss that dog. :cry; He was like a miniature lion-bear. cry.gif

And Rachel, that's unfortunate console.gif My dog isn't old enough to be put down yet, but man when she does, I'm going to be sad. :/ The attachment we have with our pets is really strong, so it's hard when you've grown up with it. :[
