Why is Apple charging so much for so less? Options

So my Ipod earphones, the one that comes originally when you buy a brand new Ipod, stopped working. So I decided to go to the Apple Store to replace my earphones. I asked the salesman there where can I get Ipod earphones, and he directed me to it. I saw it and grabbed a box of the Ipod earphones. To my surprise, I saw the price on it at $29.99. I mean seriously? I mean $30 ain't nothing to me, but for some cheap Ipod earphones to be charged that much is beyond ridiculous. I mean they don't even last long, and they fall off your ears easily. So I said f**k it, and decided to go to Best Buys, and I bought a pair of Phillips earphones which was half as expensive, and worked 5 times better than the Ipod earphones.

Well the thing is, since the iPod CAME with FREE earphones, you'd think apple would at least charge less for them, since apple can afford to give them out for free with iPods. Does that mean if those earphones were not packaged with the iPod, it would be $30 cheaper? most likely not.

But anyways, the point is that Apple does have crap accessories, but they charge a greater price for it. You can get Sony earbuds for cheaper or maybe the same price, but of much better quality. Damn, I wish I could use my samsung earphones with my ipod, but they have a different jack, since the samsung earphones are for my cell phone. :[ And they really good stereo earbuds too.

In addition, I think apple overcharges for mac os x leopard. I mean, apparently my college can afford to sell them for $70, but they $130 at the apple store. And I don't think you have to be a student to get it for that price. It didn't say any different price for non-students, which is pretty weird, since they're the same thing. It's the same exact box and everything.
