i did a quick search, but didn't find anything.
so, i just watched there will be blood and was wondering what other people thought of it. i thought it was really good-the acting by daniel day lewis was truly amazing! i thought the storyline was pretty good and not complicated to follow. i don't know why i'm comparing this to no country for old men-maybe because they were both up for best picture oscars-but with no country, i just was not feeling the story at all :/ |

I absolutely love There Will Be Blood. I found it to be far superior than No Country for Old Men. And, I would venture that the only reason it didn't win Best Picture is that it was too blasphemous.
As goes the film itself, I love the relationship of Eliah and Plainview. They're both disgusting human beings, and it's great to see how Anderson can make us take sides. Further, it's just a darker and more honest character study (I think) in comparison to Anderson's earlier stuff (Boogie Nights, Magnolia). The sort of contempt and emptiness represented here, behind the backdrop of the drilling industry, is awe inspiring. And, that f**king ending... amazing. |
