I always put a comma before and when listing things. That's how I was taught, and then in middle school they tried making us all leave out the comma. I like it, though, that most people don't care too much.

I always put a comma before and when listing things. That's how I was taught, and then in middle school they tried making us all leave out the comma. I like it, though, that most people don't care too much. Same here! I learned it that way in elementary school and I guess it just stuck. I had a discussion with some friends about it one time (weird, I know haha), and one of them pointed out that it seems like you're saying "and and" with the comma. But in my teacher for my Academic Reading & Writing class always puts commas in... so I guess I'll stick with her. =] |
