A friend of mine never went a certain class last quarter and he only shows up for the midterms and the final exam. Notes from the class are only posted up during class, so you can't even get them outside of class, and often other students won't share their notes -- those science classes are competitive! And I saw him again this quarter and he tells me that he got a good grade in the class. WTF.
![]() And then my own boyfriend takes classes with me and he never participates in mandatory discussions, but he still gets points for it. He even sleeps and I'm the one taking notes and paying attention. I even studied more than him, lol. I haven't even been helping him in his classes anymore, but when we took some classes together, he would never study and he'd get equal or higher grades as me! That makes absolutely no sense. Why can't I be as good at BSing or multiple choice like he is?! ![]() |

I don't think its the amount of studying that you put in correlates with how well you do in class. I know this from personal experience--I studied for maybe 2 hours max for my psychology final, and this guy studied for at least 3 days. I got 84%, he got 77%. Another case: Chem final. I studied the day before...by skimming notes, and making sure that I know how to use the formulas given on the sheet. One of my friend studied for a week. I got 85%, he got 75%. What matters is the amount of understanding you take from whatever course you are studying.
Of course it is all very frustrating to see somehow who looks like they barely studied, and makes minimal effort in class get a better mark than you...but I find that usually those "lazy" people are the one who understands the material, and can reason and think logically on tests. |
