Oklahoma Representative Sally Kern recently made very homophobic comments which she adamantly refuses to apologize for.

Does everyone find it disturbing that someone picked to represent the US constitution spews such hateful and discriminatory words? She's actively calling for people to treat a part of society as inferior, calling to exclude them from public office, calling them worse than terrorism (you know, that thing that KILLED millions of people?). What happened to equality? What happened to: QUOTE We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. What happened to learning that "separate but equal" is not really equal? Do you think people who are elected to represent our Constitution are allowed to say such discriminatory words? Obviously, Kern would only uphold the Constitution for people who she deems fit her beliefs and the Bible's words. Does that make her unfit for her position? |

paperplane, it was more about you know... people like that who are suppose to represent the constitution but they say things like that. But okay. Anything goes. That's what I thought it was about, so I wasn't going to get into talking about homosexuality if that was going to get us negatively off topic. But mmkay. Religiously: Human instincts can be subjected to acts of will. Sexuality is a choice of identity which follows choices of action which follow from choices of what to have sexual fantasies about. Human beings are especially able to control their thoughts, entertaining some and dismissing others. Homosexuality is not a sin, but sodomy is. Source: Any religious text belonging to the people of Abraham. Who's to say whether homosexuals are engaging in sodomy? I'm fairly certain that anal and oral sex have been decriminalized because sodomy laws banning those acts have been overturned (Bowers v Hardwick, 1986). Regardless, that doesn't come even close to proving that it's "wrong." People still don't have control over their brain structure or experiences (to an extent on that one). Also female homosexual animals only become homosexuals when there's lack of males when the females are in heat. So the females in a sense comfort there selves. Problem is... there's PETA and Homosexual rights activists who keep getting in the way of the studies. They've stopped studies on sheep, dogs, cats, monkeys, rats, and mice. This still doesn't mean that it's wrong. After all, the earth is getting pretty overpopulated with humans too. If people want to follow their natural inclinations and take it upon themselves to not reproduce. It just sounds like you're trying to justify your own homophobia. Not to say that your sources are wrong, because there's plenty of reasonable doubt on both sides of the nature/nurture debate, but none of it suggests that homosexuality is wrong. (Except maybe religion, but that's a moot point as far as I'm concerned.) |
