Have you ever gone out of your way to get back at someone for something petty, and then have it all blow up in your face, only to end up more annoyed/upset then you were before?

Sometimes, getting back at people canbe incredibly amusing, especially if you know how to get to them really well, but a lot of the time, it ends up being a little boring, or having unforseen consequences.

Yeah, dude. There was this really snide kid in my history class who thought he knew everything. One time, we were having a discussion on the Louisiana Purchase, and this putz pointed out how the acquisition faced a lot of domestic opposition for increasing federal executive power. So I stood up and was like, "You know, Jay, I can't help but get the feeling that if you had been at the reigns in 1803, under the likes of your negotiations, the preliminaries of the Louisiana Purchase wouldn't have even come to fruition." Oh, burn. I almost regretted it as soon as the words had left my mouth...keyword: almost. It felt awesome at the time.

Then, I went to his car and wrote on the windshield, "THIS CAR LOOKS LIKE A FART."

Later, I realized that I didn't really resolve the core issues I took with him. I, instead, acted selfishly, in an attempt to fulfill my own synthetic satisfaction. So, I got one of those little office dartboards and glued his picture to the bullseye target.
