I've been homeschooled for the last 3 years. I'm getting to that age where i want to be out meeting new people and hanging with friends, but my parents have gotton so used to controlling everything i do that i can't. For a while they began to give me that little bit of freedom to go out with my friends after church, but they went away for a month. They got back today, and you would think they would've forgotten all the bad stuff i'd done before they left, but they havn't. I told them i'd gotton some driving lessons, and i'd driven in the rain at night (which my mum would never let me do) and then asked if that meant they would take me out in the rain, and my mum brought up a lil miscommunication we had while i was driving. And now i find out that she won't be giving me anymore lessons because of that.
My step dad however said he'd love to give me manual lessons when they got back from there lil holiday(i havn't done manual before) . He also said we'd go out and look for a cheap, old manual car that i can learn in. While they were away they bought to brand new laptops, sending them broke. Now we can't afford the car and they have 2 laptops each all with Windows Vista, and im stuck with a crappy old thing that freezes every 1/2 hour and is only a Windows Me. Im not allowed to use any of there laptops, and the extra computer that they had between them got given to my lil brother who uses it to watch "Naruto" episodes on youtube and play Solitair. My computer runs like a turtle with no legs, taking forever to go nowhere. I want to do some more graphic designing but everytime i start up Gimpshop (which is the only thing that will work) it freezes. and when i asked if we would be going to church tomorow, they said yes. then when i mentioned my mates were going to someones house for a BBQ they said "just coz there doing that doesn't mean you will" IM SO BLOODY FRUSTRATED!!!!!!! everytime i hear there voice i get the chills im this close to blowing up in their face and i dunno what to do am i going crazy or is my whole family against me?? Any advice or suggestions as to what i should do would be greatly appreciately JCLore |

You gotta tell your parents they won't always be around to watch over you. It sounds to me that they have serious letting go issues.
Are you the first born child? Or do you have an older sibling? Would they let you get a job if you wanted to get one, or do they let you participate in any outside activities like sports, or clubs? Ask them what they're going to do when you go to college, obviously they can't keep watching over you there. They're going to have to reach closure at some point and deal with it that you are getting older. To respond to your computer problem, I think you need to tell them that, but not in a whiney way that you want a better PC, the one that you have doesn't work, but also have a reason why you need one, they may need their labtops for work, and such, but if you don't have a reason, they may not even listen to you. I would be outraged if I were in your shoes at the moment, I know back in the day my parents were the same way, they still are on some matters, like my finances and stuff. But I have learned that since I'm 19 now, they really can't do much about my life, They still let me live in their house, so I respect that. |

Are you the first born child? Or do you have an older sibling? I am the first born with my mother, but my step dad has four kids of his own, all of them are married now. The thing is, i believe he thinks he made a couple of mistakes with them, and im his second chance. Would they let you get a job if you wanted to get one, or do they let you participate in any outside activities like sports, or clubs? i have a job, although its been a while since i've had a shift. they alos let me get my Lerners permit, so eventually i'll be out driving on my own. they don't seem to mind that, but i don't think that its occured to them that i'll be driving on my own at the end of the year. |
