everyone needs to vent. when someone is having a particularly shitty day i hate it when people give them bull shit advice or optomistic filled responses. if anything, try and relate to what they're going through or just listen.
example: your friend's mom dies. what do you do? a) tell your friend he should probably burry it b) tell your friend i'm sorry, but that he still has a dad! c) listen and relate as best you can d) punch him in the face and tell him that'll take the pain off it |

I can't try to relate to someone if I've never experienced their problem(s). And I would never ask someone to try to relate to my problems if they never faced and embraced them.
I would simply tell them that they have the power to control anything associated to themselves and that they need to find it in themselves to figure out their problems, embrace it, confront it, and destroy it. Then move along because that was just one struggle out of many to come. |

sounds like you picked (a) Well it depends on the problem... you can't just let go of some problems. You actually have to embrace it and get it over with. Example, you're in debt and you have debt collectors callin you up the ass. You ignore it/burry it. Now 6 months later debt collectors sends a subpoena for you to go to court. You ignore it/burry it again then guess what? Next thing that happens... your car is taken from you, or your home, or a percentage of your income is taken from you. When all of that could have been avoided if you embraced the issue at hand in the first place. |
