My 25 years old sister just found out that she is diagnose with cystic fibrosis.
I like to know if it’s easily transmittable so I don’t have to worry about myself. |

As stated before, it is a recessive hereditary disease. Your parents must both be carriers (if they do not have the disease themselves) meaning their alleles would be Aa, both of them.
Knowing this, You have a 1 in 4 chance of actually having the disease, a 1 in 4 chance of not having the disease nor being a carrier, and a 2 in 4 chance of being a carrier of the disease. I'm so sorry about you're sister. She didn't know before? Don't people usually find out shortly after birth? |

I had the same question.. cystic fibrosis is pretty serious and doctors usually know right after they are born. I don't understand how it took 25 years for her doctors to realize it. |
