how close are you to your bf/gf's parents? Options

i wouldn't say that i have a good relationship with my bf's mom . . . i wouldn't even say that i like her very much at all. i guess i dont have much respect for someone that acts like a child and expects her son to do everything for her besides goto her shitty job at the truck stop.

since she has lost her car because she's an irritational idiot, she's been trying to get me to drive an hour all the way to longview to take her to run errands and it feels so good just saying "nah, i dont feel like it"-although sometimes i cave in just to keep appearances up.

so, what are your feelings towards your significant other's parental figures?

i can say i'm pretty close with my boyfriend's parents. my boyfriend's told me that they adore me and they think that we'll last forever. and everytime i go to his house to visit them, they always welcome me with open arms. i think its because i changed my boyfriend, for the better. like before his mom told me that he was really into bad things and he didn't focus in school and blah blah. but when he got with me, i got him to go to college and stay out of the bad things. so i think thats probably why. he tells me that his mom threatens to tell me the things he does if he acts bad, lmao. his dad just thinks i'm sweet, he calls me tiffy and my boyfriend calls me chin chin, so sometimes his dad calls me chin chin to mess with me, haha.

he has two older sisters. and i'm pretty cool with them, we call each other sister-in-laws. i do feel special because he's their baby brother and for them to accept me as his girlfriend, it really puts a smile on my face.

i love his nephew and his nieces. they're the cutest; they call me aunt tiffany. and i barely see them, so when i do, i get happy. his uncles and his aunts like me too, they tell him i'm really nice and that he better treat me right and not lose me.

overall, i love his family. they're sweet and they care a lot about our relationship. and i care a lot about them, i don't know what i'd do if they didn't like me. :\

i wouldn't be okay with my boyfriend's family not liking me. it'd be too awkward. especially when he's really close to them. but so far, i've had a good history with their families liking me; i don't think i've ever dated someone with their family not liking me.
but for those who do have their families not liking you, you shouldn't go past a line where you're not yourself just to impress them. just be yourself and don't try too hard, because they can tell when you are and they'll think that you're just putting up a facade just to impress them.
