how close are you to your bf/gf's parents? Options

i wouldn't say that i have a good relationship with my bf's mom . . . i wouldn't even say that i like her very much at all. i guess i dont have much respect for someone that acts like a child and expects her son to do everything for her besides goto her shitty job at the truck stop.

since she has lost her car because she's an irritational idiot, she's been trying to get me to drive an hour all the way to longview to take her to run errands and it feels so good just saying "nah, i dont feel like it"-although sometimes i cave in just to keep appearances up.

so, what are your feelings towards your significant other's parental figures?

well, my boyfriend tells me that his family likes me, but i'm always thinking negative and think that they don't.

his mom talks to me in vietnamese with a little bit of english for me to understand since she's from the south and i'm from the north. i feel bad because i don't understand her sometimes, so i look at my boyfriend when he's in the room to get him to translate. i am horrible at vietnamese, so i don't know how to answer back correctly and whatnot. and i think she only likes me because everyone in his household hates his ex-girlfriend because she lied to his whole family about shit. his mom calls her a monster and asked why i haven't gone out with him before that girl did and told me to beat her up. when she picks us up from school, she asks if that "monster" saw us holding hands or anything, haha. she's cute, but scary. then again, i think every asian parents are scary.

his dad isn't home much, so i don't see much of him. when i do, it's just a friendly hello and we go on with what we were doing.

with his sisters, it's the same "hi." his one younger sister (but older than him) is pretty chill. she's like, 20 or 21, and i have more conversations with her then i do with any other sisters, but we still don't talk that much.

with his brother, i barely talk to him, lol. after scrimming in counter-strike with his brother, him, my cousin, our friend, etc., he was talking shit about how i played & crap while i was on the phone with him, but i didn't really care. lol, he can't even look at me anymore, really.

all in all, his family is nice. i just get nervous of what they think of me. his mom totally called me fat, and i admit, i am fat. my boyfriend is like a skinny stick. but, whatever, haha. i play with his nieces and nephew and his mom said something about calling me aunt because they call him uncle. crazyyy. but yeah, that's how it goes.
