how close are you to your bf/gf's parents? Options

i wouldn't say that i have a good relationship with my bf's mom . . . i wouldn't even say that i like her very much at all. i guess i dont have much respect for someone that acts like a child and expects her son to do everything for her besides goto her shitty job at the truck stop.

since she has lost her car because she's an irritational idiot, she's been trying to get me to drive an hour all the way to longview to take her to run errands and it feels so good just saying "nah, i dont feel like it"-although sometimes i cave in just to keep appearances up.

so, what are your feelings towards your significant other's parental figures?

Well, i was never really "good enough" for their only son. It wasnt until recently that they came around and actually made an effor to get to know me. 3 years after me and their son started dating

So i'm not all that fond of them at all. They have done some pretty f**ked up things and have gone completely out of their way to make our relationship sink, but in the end i suppose they realized they couldn't get to us so they stopped.

same situation here. not until recently (after many problems & set backs) have they made any effort to get to know me. im not very fond of them (and im sure theyre not fond of me)... but i love my boyfriend and am trying to atleast be able to be in the same place as them without having any problems.

Thats all i ever wanted. You know i always tried so hard to impress them and i always went out of my way doing them favors and getting everyone gifts on birthdays, christmas, valentines day, easter, etc. I just eventually got sick of trying to pretty much be what they wanted me to.

wow... reminds me of all the crap i did to feel validated by them. it got to the point where i just gave up. and ive come to realize its not worth it. the only person i want/need to be validated by is my b.f. aslong as him & i both know that i tried [try] i think we'll be ok. you shouldn't feel bad about it either. it's not you. eventually they'll see that you make their son happy and that's all that matters.
