So, the button on my computer is starting to go, I think. As such, I decided to not turn off my computer and just log off instead. I asked some techie type at work and he said that should be fine. Weird thing is that my computer was off this morning, not just logged off. I do the log off thing with my laptop and it works fine.

This ever happen to anyone? (Where you don't turn off your computer yet it shuts off on its own?)

I apologize once more for dumbass questions.

Eh, in case you need specs:
Windows XP
Media Center Edition, Version 2, Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon ™ 63 Processor
3400+
2.39 GHz, 1.00 GB of Ram
Yes I know my computer sucks.

It's either your power settings or the power button's wire is getting loose.

Also... if you don't mind payin a lil extra on the electricity, leave your PC on at all times, just log off and log back on. This will prevent wear and tear.

That's exactly what I'm doing now (logging off instead of shutting down). There's a wicked delay when I press the button to turn the computer on and it sort of freaks me out, since tech dumb me isn't sure what to do if the button completely goes (how will I turn it on again? lol).

I'm not sure about the wire thing, but yeah, weirdo delay whenever I press the on button, so I just don't do it anymore.

If there's a delay more than usual. I would recommend taking a good look into any spyware, adware, viruses etc... hit ctrl+alt+del and take a screen shot of what you have in your "applications" and in your "processes" or look up every process that you find kinda odd via google. This is the best way to find out if you have a malicious file.
