Computer on log off, not turned off, Sorry, another question :[ Options

So, the button on my computer is starting to go, I think. As such, I decided to not turn off my computer and just log off instead. I asked some techie type at work and he said that should be fine. Weird thing is that my computer was off this morning, not just logged off. I do the log off thing with my laptop and it works fine.

This ever happen to anyone? (Where you don't turn off your computer yet it shuts off on its own?)

I apologize once more for dumbass questions.

Ack, I should have posted back here saying I figured it out.

I don't know how bad it is for your computer if you turn it off, but the problem I was having is that the on/off button for my computer is starting to stick so I'd rather not use it (hence logging off instead of shutting down).
