For those who have an existing web site, before you got your domain what did you do....did you buy any programs from a store, what tools did you use or did you pay another person to do it, were you happy with the end result?

I got Photoshop from a friend long ago. SmartFTP is free. I code through Notepad from scratch. My hosting is free, and I somehow got lucky and scored a free domain. Yay. |
