If you have a Facebook, you probably know about the group called "BRB, IM NOT REALLY GOING ANYWHERE, BUT NEITHER IS THIS CONVERSATION" (click). When you say "brb," are you actually going somewhere temporarily or pretending to be away? Same for "lol," "lmao," and "rofl": are you really amused or just saying that because you have no better response?
I always mean the acronyms that I use. |

If I found them boring, or don't want to talk to them anymore, I wouldn't say brb. I would say "uh, yeah, I gtg"
As for LOL. I sometimes actually laugh for reals, but when I go HAHAHAHAHHAA. I'm really laughing. |
