You're right. I'm not a Soldier, nor do I work with the Army. I can pass on information about Marines and green-side Sailors, though

The one time my friend and I called my ex's dad a soldier, he only had to remind us once: Marines and Sailors are not Soldiers. Soldiers come from the Army. Ever call a Marine a soldier, you might as well sign the death certificate yourself.

Wrong again. You were in the military? You said you were. Hmm, I no longer believe you.

Let's break this down, shall we?

Marine Corps - Marine
Navy - Sailor
Army - Soldier
Air Force - Airman

Simple enough?

Wait... soldier is just when someone is dressed out in military fatigues. That's when they're in combat mode. Either way they're a soldier. You should address them 'Marine, Sailor etc.. when they're dressed into their proper uniform.

Negative. It doesn't work like that. You're distinguished based on the branch in which you serve. In a Marine Corps utility uniform, I'm still a Marine. If a Sailor, who is a Corpsman (Navy medical, works with Marines), is in combat utilities, he's still a Sailor.

Hm... I see, I only spent 4 years in the NAVY. (Enlisted right after Bush took over presidency)

I have a long line of scarlet and gold in veins. Growing up, I wouldn't dare get it confused, or I got popped in the mouth. Tama, maybe you should get popped in the mouth. Don't worry, it builds character.

Yeh... been popped in the mouth before, but after that... I learned stabbing people does the trick.
