According to a recently released FBI report, Gang-related activity in the US military is increasing and poses a threat to law enforcement officials and national security.

The report, Gang Activity in the U.S. Armed Forces Increasing, dated January 12, states that members of nearly every major street gang have been identified on both domestic and international military installations. These street gangs include the Bloods, Crips, Black Disciples, Gangster Disciples, Hells Angels, Latin Kings, The 18th Street Gang, Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), Mexican Mafia, Nortenos, Surenos, Vice Lords, and various white supremacist groups.

This article strikes me as nothing more than exaggerated bullshit.

Gangs do exist in the military, but they stem from gang affiliations that some servicemen once had prior to them joining the military. I assure you, these so-called "gangbangers" would be long kicked out of the military if they really had that mentality. You'll find some of these clowns after work sporting their flags and rocking their colors, stacking handsigns and what not, but, those that really try to go all out, get kicked out.

Don't buy into this article.

Maybe it is bullshit but... why would 60 Minutes (show) have an episode about this?... With F.B.I. agents saying more than what this article offers?

Do you have any proof they get kicked out? Because technically speaking, if you take a look at the policies of the Military there's nothing that says anything about not allowing gang affiliated members into the military, and 60 minutes assured this.

The reason being is, they don't know how to define "gang affiliation" so as of now, any gang member can join. I'm sure some time down the road though... that will change.

I'm actually stunned to read about this. I've never heard of this before. I thought the military did extremely thorough background checks and psycho-analytical tests to ensure that all applicants were as stable and reliable as possible. I mean, it's obvious that we don't want to give sociopaths AK-47s and send them off into the battlefield, therefore, these tests are necessary and understandable. I don't understand how someone could be a member of MS-13 and be allowed into the military, when it is known all over America just how dangerous these individuals are, as seen in their disregard for human life. This amazes me.

Nah... they don't. At least not when I joined the NAVY.
I do agree about MS-13... they're pretty much the most sadistic gang in America right now.

Honestly, I don't see a problem with this at all. Men who were once in the military feel they have the power to do whatever they want, and use the "I served this country" game. They can do whatever they please, as long as they are punish for the crimes they commit. Nothing wrong with street gangs. I was in the Triad once back in my days!

Also I wouldn't want any pussies drafted and fighting for my country.

And some of those men who feel they have that power, are the ones that create and lead militant gangs. Militant gangs as in... each member has served the military and have a military background.
