i think the original question is fine. but just because people are of the same "race" doesn't mean they'd also be the same ethnicity. and it gets even more complicated by the fact that the term "race" is often used loosely; some people believe there is only one human race, some follow the four-race model of caucasian (kanthoeroi?), negroid, mongolian, astraloid, and others classify even deeper. so it's simply more convenient to drop the term "race" and just speak of ethnicity. and polish, although non specific, could be considered an ethnic group. the han chinese would be the largest chinese ethnic group, although there are many other varients, ie. zhuang, manchu, blah blah blah. anyway, enough of the mumbo jumbo technicalities. i'd like to experience being of irish descent, living in australia ;o. |
