what's the standard paper size in pixels?
i do 8.5 by 11 inches in photoshop and gives me something three times as big, so i look at the pixels and it's like 3000 by something. so, i'll just rely on pixels now instead of inches. :] |

The number of pixels depends on the resolution of your desired image.
If you're printing something in black and white, use a resolution of 266. So, when opening a new document, choose 8.5 INCHES for Width, 11 inches for Height, and 266 pixels/inch for Resolution. If printing in colour, do the same as above, except use a resolution of 300. The reason you're getting the pixels to be 3000 something is that Photoshop uses a default setting of 8.5 x 11 at 300 pixels/inch. That's your optimum resolution for printing colour images. To get an idea: 72 pixels/inch will give you pixel dimensions of 612 x 792 266 pixels/inch will give you pixel dimensions of 2261 x 2926 300 pixels/inch will give you pixel dimensions of 2550 x 3300 |
