As soon as I finish the layout and such, you know...  So, this is what I've got so far... Oh, and this one is a little resized... the real one is 1000x800, but somehow in the process of uploading it, it resized itself. Thanks imageshack!  I'm really looking for some constructive criticism on this one... the two kinda translucent boxes are gonna be the nav/main content areas but without the boxes there, if that makes sense... I didn't really plan on giving it a background, I figured transparent would look best. Anyways, any ideas are welcome.... To me, this kindof a rough copy... but I'm having a bit of a artistic brain freeze... figures... lol |

I think your spacing is a bit off.
I'd have just placed the content box right under the main text, and overlayed the text to the left of the box near the fan. The black stands out too much since the rest of the layout is pretty subtle. I'd suggest making the lines of the content box the same way you made the lines coming from the left. |

I find this to be a little confusing... but I think after reading it a couple times I get what you mean... I hadn't really thought about that before, but it does look a little off, you're right... I'm gonna try that and send you a picture to see if I understand correctly... :P like I said, I'm having some serious problems making a layout, lol... artistic brain freeze hardcore.
