Daayyum look at that tan! Options

Personally i have naturally tanned skin but i think it's waay too dark. Like people mistaken me for being philippino and i kind of take it offencive, not that there's anything wrong with being philippino but im chinese.
All these guys say that they like their girls with a deep tan but i don't think so, the guys at my school like girls with light or cream coloured skin. Even on tv! All the girls on tv have light coloured skin, expecially on beauty product commercials.
What do you guys think?

Don't be so insecure about yourself. Tans are nice, and they're better than being paled skin like any ordinary Chinese person :x (like me x__x). As long as you don't go to a tanning booth, your tan will look fine. Fake tans make your skin all orange-y and discolored. And don't bleach your skin either (since you said you wanted lighter skin). Just don't worry about it. My friend's Vietnamese and she has tanned colored skin and people always mistaken her for Philipino, even I did. Just try to like the way you look. It seems like the commercials are putting down your self-esteem a bit, no?
