what is the differences/advantages to using a subdomain (music.mysite.com) rather than just having a slash and the page name (mysite.com/music) (what is it called when you use the slash?) responses appreciated. thanks!

If you're going to use pages, just upload it onto your server. There's honestly no need for you to create a directory for it or a subdomain. Subdomains are usually only used for a separate website. It's much easier to edit your header (if you use PHP, that is) if you just put your webpages in one folder with the header in there too. I suggest just putting all your webpages in one folder (your www, public_html, wherever you put your index of your website at).
