How can I overcome my shyness and talk to this girl? Options

There's this girl that I just moved my locker next to at school, and I really want to talk to her, but I'm way too shy. I think her and I talked once back in freshman year, but I could barely talk to her and I was embarrassed because I thought she thought I was weird. She's a beautiful, sweet, and cool person from what I know of her, but I'm still too shy to even say "Hi" because I think she will be freaked out.

How can I overcome my shyness and talk to the girl, and any advice on how I can keep the conversation going (such as stuff I can talk to her about, and transitioning different topics, etc.)?
I'm like this with most other people, but it's pretty much this girl that I have to most trouble with.

Wear clashing clothes and plenty of face paint. The males of many animal species are brilliantly colored to impress a mate in courtship, so that's a cue to take. As you're approaching her, scuttle from side to side and make squawking noises to stimulate the mating ritual. Make sure that you haven't showered recently so that the musty scent of your body drives her into heat.

Next, be direct. Once you've reached her, try saying, "GOOD AFTERNOON. WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN GOING ON A DATE AND POTENTIALLY BEARING MY CHILDREN AND QUITTING YOUR JOB TO RAISE THEM?" It's also important to speak as loud as you can in order to signify what her attention needs to be directed at for the moment. If your volume isn't at that level, she may become distracted by other noises, like crowd sounds, nearby construction, etc.

Let's say she responds with, "Hey." You should correct her with, "HAY IS FOR HORSES", and then smack her on the back while throwing your head back in laughter at such witty banter. Girls like a good sense of humor. At this point, she'll probably fall in love with you, but don't give away your strategy.

Refrain from doing all the talking. That's rude. Do two-thirds of the talking. Keep a stopwatch on you to time yourself. Make sure you express the transitions with hand signals to cut her off when it's your turn.

Ok fever1, apart from this girl being sweet + cool, do you know anything else about what she likes or is interested in? If there's anything you have in common you can lead off with that and if that fails stick to general topics like crappy teachers/classes/etc... You could always include a compliment but only if you're sincere and it's not something creepy like "I like the way you smell...*heavy breathing*"

and to try and destroy those nerves just remember that there's no way you can be worse off from talking with her... IMO bottom-line-worst-case-scenario is that she ends up being a cow and thinks you're weird just for being shy, but you've already said she seems nice so that doesn't seem like a real possibilty.
